These flashcards are designed to help your child with their reading and spelling and can also help them learn to recognize everyday objects. One side of the cards shows an object and the written word, and the reverse side shows just the written word. Take a card and hold it up in the air so your child can see it. Ask them if they recognize the picture shown on the card. If they do, ask them to tell you a story that relates to the picture. If they don’t recognise the picture, describe it to them to help them understand what the item is. Cover the word at the base of the picture. Ask your child to spell the object or animal shown in the picture. If your child finds this word too difficult, put it to one side and come back to it later.
